How is the Virginia Tech Athletic Department funded?
The Virginia Tech Athletic Department receives no funding from the Commonwealth of Virginia; therefore, it must operate solely on what monies that it generates. Funds are generated from football and basketball season ticket revenue, conference and television rights revenue, and private support from donors in the Hokie Club.
How will my contribution to the Hokie Club be used?
Donations to the Hokie Club are primarily used to provide scholarship aid to our twenty-one varsity sports programs. Funds are also used to support facility improvements and programmatic needs of the Virginia Tech Athletics department.
Why should I give to the Hokie Club?
With over 475 student-athletes and the cost of both in state and out of state scholarships continuing to rise, every donation to the Hokie Club is important. Virginia Tech athletics brings national attention to the University and to maintain our programs at such high recognition, we must be able to offer the best athletes in the country support towards a quality education.
What options do I have when setting up my payment schedule for my annual gift?
When making an annual gift, there are several ways you can set up your payment schedule. You can pay the full amount in one lump sum with cash or credit card via our online form, you may set up quarterly payments, set up payroll deduction (VT employees), or set up Hokie Matic (monthly electronic transfer from either your checking/savings account.)
Will a contribution to the Hokie Club help my ticket priority to Virginia Tech events?
Yes, every contribution to the Hokie Club factors into the point priority system, which the Hokie Club uses to rank all donors. This rank is used as the basis for assigning football and basketball tickets.
Does joining the Hokie Club automatically guarantee season tickets for football and basketball?
No, Joining the Hokie Club does not in itself guarantee season tickets for football and men’s and women’s basketball. All benefits associated with these sports are based on your point priority rank. Your rank as of the year end deadline is used for this purpose.
What is a Hokie Club Representative?
A Hokie Representative is a volunteer for the Virginia Tech Athletic fund whose purpose is to assist and support in raising funds for athletic scholarships and facility improvements at Virginia Tech.
I received my point priority printout and I believe it is incorrect. What should I do?
Just return a copy of your sheet to our office and we will research it and get back to you. Please do not call our office because we will need to research old records of your contributions, etc.
I want to enroll my child in the Hokie Kids Club. How do I do this?
The Hokie Kids Club is part of the Athletics Department. Call (540) 231-3236 to find out how to sign-up your child or you can email them at hokiekidsclub@vt.edu
When are football schedules for the upcoming season released?
Football schedules are generally released in the latter part of January or first part of February. Due to the fact that schedules are made in the league office, we do not have any information before official release.
I ordered season football tickets. When will these be mailed?
Season football tickets and parking passes will be mailed in early to mid-August. Away game tickets will be mailed separately no later than ten (10) days prior to the game.
What time does the stadium open prior to a home football game?
Lane Stadium opens 1 1/2 hours prior to each home football game.
How can I find the satellite coordinates for a Tech football game?
Contact the Sports Information Office at 540-231-6726 for information about the satellite coordinates for Tech football games.
How do I purchase a season handicapped parking pass?
A season parking pass for the handicapped may be purchased in lots 1 and 2 next to the stadium and the "B" lot off Prices Fork Road on a space-available basis. Handicapped parking requests are filled randomly. If demand for handicapped parking exceeds the number of handicapped spaces, the remaining requests will be filled in Lot "B". Individual game needs are handled in Lot "B". If there are any special needs, please call (540) 231-6731.
