It is the intention of the Virginia Tech Department of Athletics to graduate student-athletes at a rate equal to or higher than the University rate. As an intermediate goal, we intend to increase the repertoire of learning strategies and skills among our student-athletes. We desire to have student-athletes who are constantly competing for state, conference, regional and national academic awards and scholarships. Student-athletes with at least a 3.00 GPA are rewarded each semester by being honored on the Athletic Director's Honor Roll.

Results from Spring Semester 2011

• A total of 542 student athletes on team rosters
• 47 percent of student athletes achieved a 3.0 or greater fall 2011 semester GPA
• 42 percent of student athletes maintain a cumulative 3.0 or greater GPA
• 140 student athletes made the Dean's List fall 2011 semester
• 14 student athletes earned a 4.0 fall 2011 semester GPA
• 3 student athletes maintain a cumulative 4.0 GPA
• The average team fall 2011 semester GPA is a 2.99
• The average team cumulative GPA is a 2.97
• 13 teams achieved a 3.0 or greater fall semester GPA
• 8 teams maintain a 3.0 or greater cumulative GPA
